It would depend on what breaks up the light, and how much refraction occurs, but Ideally you would see light in its component colors, VIBGYOR Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red.

That's called - a prism.
rainbows are formed when it rains. when the ray of sunlight passes on a raindrop (which is in form of water), the ray of light breaks and the broken ray of light turns into different colors which are the rainbow colors. this process is called refraction.
Light breaks up based on the wavelength. That is also why the sky is blue. Red has the longest, and violet the shortest.
If I'm not mistaking, but I believe there are 7 colors on a Rainbow.
