A pyramid is bigger at the bottom and small and pointy at the top. so its bigger at the bottom, otherwise it would have been called an energy upside-down pyramid =).
But anyway,
energy enters a food chain from the sun. some energy and biomass is lost at each stage of a food chain as feaces, movement energy and heat energy (especiall birds and mammals). therefore only a small amount of energy and biomass is incorporated into a consumer's body and transferred to the next feeding level.
the loss of energy and biomass at each stage is a representation of why the pyramid gets smaller at the top.
Producers is the group in an energy pyramid.
The amount of energy in one section of the pyramid would always be less than the amount of energy in the section below it.
food
producers
Producers, such as plants and algae, make up the largest level of the energy pyramid. They convert sunlight into energy through photosynthesis, forming the base of the pyramid that supports all other levels.
There is a good reason why there are more herbivores than carnivores. When a carnivore eats an herbivore, it only absorbs a small amount of energy from the animal because herbivores only absorb a small amount of energy from the plants they eat. Therefore, a carnivore must eat more herbivores to receive the energy they need to survive.
Giza is the largest pyramid
Grain products, like pasta, bread, cereals, etc.
The two largest pyramids in Teotihuacan are the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon. The Pyramid of the Sun is the largest and the Pyramid of the Moon is the second largest.
The largest pyramid in Egypt is the pyramid in Giza. It is the largest pyramid in all of ancient Egypt.
The bottom part of the energy pyramid, or trophic level, is the largest because it represents producers like plants that have the most energy available. These producers convert sunlight into energy through photosynthesis, which is then transferred to herbivores and up the food chain. As energy is lost as heat with each transfer, there needs to be a large base of producers to support higher trophic levels.
The largest pyramid is in Mexico, actually. Not Egypt!
