The left ventricle has a much thicker, muscular wall than the right so it can generate the high force necessary to pump oxygenated blood (blood from the lungs) into the aorta, which is the main outflow tract of the heart, to the rest of the body. The right side of the heart, in contrast, is much thinner as it only needs to generate enough force to pump blood through the pulmonary arteries, which will carry deoxygenated blood to the nearby lungs.
