This depends on what kind of sports you are interested in.
Personally I prefer Sky Sports 2 as it has a broader range of sport whereas Sky Sports 1 tends to focus on football.

Depending on which service you have, Sky Plus HD Box or Virgin media will dictate the channel - 511 is Sky Sports 1 and 512 is Sky Sports 2 on Virgin Media Boxes - and if you have Sky TV through the Sky Plus or Sky Plus HD set top box, you can receive Sky Sports on 401 for Sky Sports 1 and 402 for Sky Sports 2. Sports like football, golf, soccer, lacrosse, tennis, and a bunch more can be streamed via Sky Sports 2. Sky Sports 2 is free to register, but if you want to upgrade, which gives you more channels, it costs you 5 euros a month.
In the UK it is televised between 9 AM and midday, every Saturday on SKY ONE, and SKY SPORTS 1.

Not sure what ad you mean, there's a Sky Sports ad currently doing the rounds with the "Yeah Yeah Yeahs" song "Rich" on it.
you can record (with a standard sky plus box with standard installation) 2 programs at once, as long as you either have one of the channels that are being recorded on (you could still watch terrestrial of freeview though), or are watching something you previously recorded. e.g. you could record sky sports 1, and sky sports 2 at the same time, leave one of the channels on so you can record both at once and switch to terrestrial or freeview bbc1.
Sky2 does not appear to have a plus 1 channel, but it does have several sister channels. These include Sky1, Sky Arts 1, Sky Arts 2, and Sky Real Lives 2.
