According to The Bible, a lion roars when it has prey. The question is asked in Amos 3:4, "Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey?" The context of the verse is that, no, he will not. The lions roar brings fear to the lions prey, thus Amos 3:8 says, "The lion hath roared, who will not fear?" The roaring of the lion when he has prey causes fear in the victim and this fear makes escaping harder for the victim and thus aids the lion in capturing his food. "Their roaring shall be like a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safe, and none shall deliver it" Isa 5:29
It does NOT. Sound travels at a speed determined by temperature, pressure, and the medium through which it propogates.
Sound travels slowly through air. It travels faster through liqiids. It travels even faster through solids.
Frequency (the Lion's growl is low frequency) is not related to the speed of transmission.
JCF
NO they travel at the same speed. You are getting confused between the loudness of the sound and speed. Loudness depends on amplitude( the maximum particle displacement). The speed of sound is constant as long as the temperature and medium are the same.
The speed of sound depends on the medium and its temperature, humidity. It is irrespective of the source. So both roaring and buzzing sound would travel at the same speed
light travels faster in vacuum.
It depends on the total energy supplied: if the "roaring" flame burns (say) less gas than the two "quiet" flames, the two flames will heat faster.
lightneing
No, nothing travels faster than light.
Sound is a compression wave that travels via then vibrations of particles. If the particles are closer together then the wave (sound) moves faster. Particles are closer together in a liquid than a gas, therefore sound travels faster through liquids.
There's no evidence to indicate any difference in the speeds of those two sounds, or of any other sound.
light travels faster in vacuum.
A Worm travels faster than a Snail.
lightning travels faster. Light is faster than sound.
Light travels faster than sound ... about 875,000 times faster. Nothing travels faster than light.
Myth: Only the female mosquito makes a buzzing sound Fact: The buzzing sound you hear is from the beating of the wings. Both female and male wings make a buzzing sound. Most people don't hear the male mosquito because it doesn't bite. source: www.leoncountyfl.gov/Mosquito
No. The air that travels over the wing moves faster.
Sound travels faster in water than it does in air. It travels even faster in metals.
the wheel bearing on the vehicle will make a roaring noise when you accelerate the faster you go the louder it gets
Faster in water than in air.
Light travels at approximately 3x108m/s whilst sound travels only at 343m/s. So which do you think is the faster one?
no--bearings and tires are the most likely cause of roaring--esp if it gets louder as you roll faster
