Mississippi shares both a western and a southern border with Louisiana and a southern border with the Gulf of Mexico and with Louisiana.

Tennessee borders the Mississippi River in the west and the Tennessee River in the east. It does not directly border any oceans but is part of the Mississippi River watershed that eventually flows into the Gulf of Mexico. There are also various lakes within Tennessee, including Kentucky Lake and Chickamauga Lake.
