Every orchestra can be a little different.
Most Symphonic orchestras (which includes opera) have violins, Violas. Cellos, Bass Viols, often a harp, a piano can be used.
It really depends on the show, though, and what is in the score, and sometimes, one production will have one set of instruments, but another might add or subtract an instrument.
The two basic instruments used in Peking Opera are the jinghu, a two-stringed bowed instrument, and the yunluo, a set of tuned gongs. These instruments are critical to creating the traditional and distinctive sound of Peking Opera music.
