The Acropolis in Athens was primarily a religious and ceremonial site, dedicated to the goddess Athena and featuring important temples like the Parthenon. The Assembly, or Ecclesia, was held in the Agora, which was more accessible and suited for public gatherings and discussions. Additionally, the Agora's location allowed for easier participation from citizens and facilitated the practical needs of political discourse, while the Acropolis served a different, more symbolic and spiritual purpose.
The Parthenon is located on the Acropolis of Athens, Greece. It sits atop a rocky outcrop overlooking the city, approximately 150 meters southwest of the Ancient Agora, which was the center of public life in ancient Athens. The structure is also about 500 meters northeast of the Acropolis Museum.
In ancient Athens, the agora served as a central hub for social, political, and economic activities, where many men would gather daily. However, while the agora included temples and spaces for worship, not all men visited specifically to worship Athena each day. Worship of Athena, the city's patron goddess, was more prominent during specific festivals and rituals rather than daily. Therefore, while many men frequented the agora, it was not solely for the purpose of worshiping Athena.

Agora
It was called an Agora (open place of assembly) you're stupid... don't put an answer if you don't know what it is..........
There was actually two famous buildings, Acropolis and Parthenon. The Acropolis was also nick-named "The sacred rock". The Parthenon was a temple that the Greeks used to pray in, but now it's crumbled rock. Now you've learnt more than you asked for!
the ancient greek market was called an agora.
Athens is named after it's patron goddess Pallas Athene, or Athena. Athena won the rights to being patron of the city when she produced the olive tree, beating the salt water spring that Poseidon (her competition who was also vying for patron) created. Thus, the city was named in her honor. That is also why the Parthenon (a temple dedicated to her) is located in the agora of Athens.
