I don't quite understand what you're saying as it doesn't make sense. A hypothesis is a statement made before a test is done, and is compared to the results. It usually requires the three words If, Then and Because. For example if you were testing exercise and its effect on heart rate, a hypothesis would be "If the exercise intensity is increased, then the heart rate will increase, because your heart helps with exercise"
What your asking is what study would be used to figure out its hypothesis, which is a redundant question as all studies are based on testing its hypothesis, which is a paradox. Please ask a less complex, unanswerable question next time.
A meteorologist specializing in severe weather events like thunderstorms would be the most likely earth scientist to study them. They would investigate the formation, behavior, and impact of thunderstorms on the environment.
Epidemiologists would study the causes of a present-day epidemic. They investigate the patterns and causes of diseases in populations to help prevent and control outbreaks.
Examine or Study would both suffice
A volcanologist or a geologist specializing in volcanoes would be most likely to study the cooling of lava after a volcanic eruption. They would investigate the physical and chemical properties of the cooling lava to understand its behavior and how it solidifies over time.

A geologist would likely study the Earth's structure, composition, and processes, including rocks, minerals, plate tectonics, and natural hazards like earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. They may also investigate the history of the Earth and how it has changed over time.

Geographers are most likely to study landforms and their locations.

A chemist would be most likely to study questions related to the composition, structure, properties, and transformations of matter at the molecular and atomic levels. For example, they may investigate how different substances react with each other, how to synthesize new materials, or how to optimize chemical processes for specific applications.
