the body.

Diabetes mellitus means that you cannot create insulin( type 1) or insulin doen't have an effect on your body(type 2)

You need insulin to deliver glucose to the cells.

If the cells don't have glucose there will be no energy created and you have to get other fuels to deliver the energy (proteins, fat)

eventually, if you are untreated you will die due to respiratoir failure because you respiration muscles will be digested (muscle=protein)

It is the same thing that happens if you would stop eating( starvation)

Is Diabetes a chromosomal error?

you have to be much more specific in your question. there are many types of diabetes- type one diabetes, type two diabetes, diabetes insipidus, diabetes mellitus. I, personally, am actually a type one diabetic (diabetes mellitus). This is not due to chromosomal error. No one is precisely sure as to how one acquires diabetes, but my doctor's believe I caught a virus which tricked my immune system to thinking my pancreas was sick, when it was in fact not. My immune system then killed my beta cells. Or alpha. I don't know haha. Hope this helps.

Does type 2 diabetes mellitus have autoimmune destruction of beta cells in pancreas?

an autoimmmune disease is defined as a disease caused by someones immune system kind of going into overdrive and attacking cells it would not otherwise attack (it only should attack germs and viruses and stuff that makes you sick). in the case of type 1 diabetes, the immune system has attacked cells in the pancreas that produce insulin.

What organ of the digestive system is associated with diabetes?

The pancreas is the organ associated with diabetes in the digestive system. It plays a key role in regulating blood sugar levels by producing insulin. In people with diabetes, the pancreas either produces insufficient insulin (Type 1 diabetes) or the body becomes resistant to the insulin produced (Type 2 diabetes).
