A personal statement is usually written to support and application for work or education. It is an opportunity to share something of your character with a potential employer or college.

Many themes are appropriate and the nature of the position may affect your choice of theme. You might choose events that have changed your life, your motivation for learning or working, why you have achieved your current position or status or perhaps your role in society.

There are three things you should try to achieve with the statement: First, you must sound believable. Next, it should be interesting and finally, it should offer an insight into part of your life that shows you in a good light.
