According to the Treaty of Paris of 1783, the MISSISSIPPI RIVER would be open for trade to both the Americans and the British.
The right for Americans to use the Mississippi River and trade in New Orleans was granted by Spain through the Pinckney's Treaty of 1795. This treaty, negotiated between the United States and Spain, resolved territorial disputes and allowed American access to the river and the port of New Orleans for trade.
