O2 and CO2
Capillaries are the small blood vessels where oxygen is exchanged for carbon dioxide. They are located throughout the body and allow for the exchange of gases between the blood and tissues.
Alveoli are site of gas exchange. Actual diffusion of gases occurs at interstitial space between capillaries and alveolar cells.
The pulmonary circulation works closely with the respiratory system at the alveoli. There, capillaries are in close proximity to the air sacs, and gases are exchanged at this point.
Earthworms have no special respiratory organs. Gases are exchanged through the moist skin and capillaries.
In the systemic circuit gas is exchanged in the capillaries. Oxygen goes to the body tissue while the Carbon Dioxide produced from respiration is taken by the blood to go to the lungs and be breathed out.

Oxygen is exchanged from the air in the alveoli into the blood in the capillaries, while carbon dioxide is exchanged from the blood in the capillaries into the air in the alveoli during the process of respiration.
Capillaries.
Oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged by way of the circulatory system. Cells use oxygen for energy and produce carbon dioxide as a waste. Capillaries are where this exchange occurs. Veins carry this product back to the heart. This blood goes to the lungs were you blow off the carbon dioxide and take in oxygen. So the circulatory system and lungs work together to exchange gases.
