The two Subatomic particles which are in the Nucleus of an Atom is the Up and Down quark. When we think about the Nucleus of an Atom it is made up with Neutrons and Protons. Both Neutrons and Protons are made up with Quarks (a type of Subatomic Particle) Neutrons have to Down quarks and one Up quark. Whilst Protons have two Up quarks and one Down quark. So we can see that the Nucleus of an Atom is not only made up but dependent on Up and Down quarks.

The majority of the mass of an atom is concentrated in the nucleus, which is made up of neutrons and protons. In orbits around the nucleus are the atom's electrons which do add some mass to the atom but which are significantly lighter.

The first thing you're told when learning this is that the nucleus contains two different subatomic particles, protons and neutrons. But, as you learn more, you find out that protons and neutrons are themselves made up of smaller particles, called quarks. Specifically, protons are 2 up quarks and 1 down quark, while neutrons are 2 down quarks and 1 up quark. So, quarks are really what comprise the nucleus.
