The two plates involved in the Japan Tsunami were the Pacific and North American Tectonic plates.
pertaining to the structure of the earth's crust.
Dictionary definition of Tectonic
referring to the forces or conditions within the earth thatcause movements of the crust.
The Eurasian Plate and the Indo-Australian Plate.
Antarctic plate and the pacific plate
The Great Asian tsunami was on Sunday the 26th of December 2004
The mountain range that is being created by the collision between the Indian tectonic plate and Asian tectonic plate is the Himalaya.
The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake was an undersea megathrust earthquake that occurred at 00:58:53 UTC on December 26, 2004, with an epicentre off the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. The quake itself is known by the scientific community as the Sumatra-Andaman earthquake. The resulting tsunami itself is given various names, including the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, Asian Tsunami, Indonesian Tsunami, and Boxing Day Tsunami. The earthquake was caused by subduction and triggered a series of devastating tsunami along the coasts of most landmasses bordering the Indian Ocean, killing nearly 230,000 people in eleven countries, and inundating coastal communities with waves up to 30 meters (100 feet) high. It was one of the deadliest natural disasters in recorded history. Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand were the hardest hit.
Tsunamis have been striking America but not of the magnitude of 2004 Asian Tsunami or 2011Japan Tsunami. But still there are no such instruments or devices which could predict a tsunami or an earthquake.
Devastating. Do a search for the Asian Tsunami of a few years ago.
The India Plate and the Eurasian Plate.
when tectonic plate collides with other tectonic plates or moves into another tectonic plate it affects surface in a way to create mountains. Like Himalayas are created when the indian tectonic plate collided with asian tectonic plate.
They don't LOOK Asian, they ARE Asian. They just are in denial. Itis complex and has to do more with the socio-dynamic forces at work rather than tectonic plates.

Tectonic hazards are events caused by the Tectonic plates below the Earth's crust colliding with each other, moving against each other, moving apart or the oceanic less dense plate being subducted under the continental plate. For example, Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Tsunami's. The most well known tsunami is the boxing day 2004 Asian tsunami, which claimed over 200,000 lives. A well known earthquake is the Sichuan Earthquake, which occured in may 2008, in China. To be classified as a hazard the event must be able to result in death, injury, or property damage.
Tectonic Plates are floating on the semi-molten mantle. As there is movement beneath the crust, so the plates slowly move. The Indian plate crashing into the Asian plate, and being forced beneath the Asian plate, resulted in the formation of the Himalayas.
the Asian tsunami lasted 10 minutes

Due to tectonic plates floating on the surface of the semi-molten mantle, movement of the Earth's crust is still happening. Land is still rising and sinking in places. Mount Everest is reputed to be still rising due to the collision between the Indian and Asian tectonic plates, which caused the formation of the Himalayas. Weathering (erosion) is happening all the time.
