In general there are a wider variety of preprepared food today. It stays fresh for longer and often taste better. Then we can ask ourselves why. Mainly this is due to better hygene and better knowledge of bactereas that causes food to go off quickly. We are better at treating food with high temperature to kill off any possible bactereas present. Chemicals are also added to fooditems to preserve them. These days some countries also allow use of radiation to sterilize certain fooditems.
