Both types of herpes can be embarassing to deal with both personally and socially they can be akward. Cold sores and fever blisters are not exactly pretty things. But at least genital herpes isn't visible as oral herpes is when there is a cold sore or fever blister, but both types of herpes have negative stigmas attached to them. Also some people are just ignorant about herpes, or like to make fun of people that have it.
