That would depend, aim 7 still allows u to get into the chat rooms, the newer version of aim doesn't allow u to get into the chat rooms, so if u still wanna access the chat rooms, I'd say go with aim 7(older version), if u don't mind the chat rooms, then I'd recommend the newer version, because it has better features, and for me it doesn't seem to load slow(aim 7 for my computer sometimes loads extremely slow).

The older version of gmail doesn't have the option of backgrounds. It also doesn't have google chat, the option of chatting with your aim friends, or video chat.
