The 1st war to use Aeroplanes (Heavier than air aircraft) was by the Italians in the Italo-Turkish war of 1911/1912.
This was mainly kept to reconnaissance roles but some limited aerial bombing did take place.
The aeroplane as a true fighting weapon did not happen fully until WWI.
