which way does the wheel hub nut on a Chevy Tahoe come off
TURN IT TO THE LEFT,, TAKES IT OFF. TURN IT TO THE RIGHT, PUTS IT ON.
The rear drums come off with the rear wheel hub. You Jack up the car, remove the wheel.Remove the cap in the center of the hub. Take the cotter pin out, unscrew the wheel bearing retainer nut. Front: Remove the wheel. Remove the brakes. Take off the Wheel Nut Dust Cover Take the wheel nut off. Pull the wheel hub off. Remove the bearing assembly from the hub and replace, or replace the entire hub(recommended). Replace all the parts and repeat on the other side of the car. Back: Sry... I'm not sure.
firstly remove the rear wheel and brake drum remove grease cover from hub centre undo the nut ( v tight ) from hub hub should then come off place hub in a vice or hydraulic press drift out or press out old bearing re-placing is the reverse procedure re-tighten hub nut to specified torque
pull the wheel off remove the brake caliper and disc. there might be a cap in the center of the hub. if so remove it and there will be a single nut coming from the spindle remove it and the the whole assembly will come off.
Remove the wheel, remove the axle shaft, remove the hub nut, pull off the hub.. the bearings will come off at this point. Drive out the races with a race driver and install new races. Clean off the axle spindle ad run over it with some emery cloth. Pack the bearings in grease, install the larger bearing in the inner hub and drive in the new wheel seal. Mount the hub, install the outer bearing, secure with the nut and washer. Tight is tight.
Remove the wheel and caliper. Then rake off the nut on the axel and the hub mounting bolts.
Take off the wheel and the brakes. There should be a cap in the center of the hub, take that off. There will be a nut with a cotter pin through it, take out the cotter pin. Unscrew the nut, take out washer. Slide hub off spindle. Knock the back seal out of the hub. Clean the hub, pack bearings and hub with grease. Place new back bearing back into hub, then lightly tap seal into hub. Put the hub onto the spindle. Put in front bearing, washer, nut, cotterpin, and cap. Replace tire.
You replace it as part of the rear disc assembly. Remove rear wheel and hub nut cover undo hub nut,then remove the rear caliper and pull the disc off the stub axle.
Remove center hub cover maybe spring loaded Slide gear out Remove spanner nut Remove washers Wheel bearing should slide out Hub should slide off spindle
on my 1968 lemans I removed the grease cap then removed cotter pin and nut from axle and it will come off both wheel & tire of course your brake shoes cannot be to tight on drum
you must also remove the 36mm axle nut in the center of the hub.
if its a 2 wheel drive you have to buy a hub assembley. take off the wheel take off brake caliper rotor and the large nut that holds it on and it should tap right off.
