Although the intention to anoint Jesus' body with spices explains the presence of the women at the tomb, some scholars have expressed surprise that they would do so. The gospels make it clear that Jesus had already been anointed and wrapped in a linen cloth, so that there was no reason to disturb the body afterwards. And they would certainly have been aware that a massive stone had been placed across the entry to the tomb, making it impossible for them to gain entry unless they (or the author) knew that the stone would be moved for them.

Answer:"And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him." Mark 16:1

Why did the pharisees questioned Jesus about the sabbath?

He simply did not disagree with any of God's Commandments. He corrected the wrong interpretations of the day's religious leaders. These followed the letter of the Law and created additional restraints within it so that it became a heavy burden upon the people. Jesus showed the spiritual meaning of the Law, enlarging it to its original intent and obeyed it fully as the Lord of the Sabbath. After all, as all was created via Jesus as John 1: 1-3 clearly states, then it was He who gave the Sabbath rest to mankind in Genesis and fully understood its intended purpose.

As a quintessential, or perfect and typical, Jew, Jesus would have accepted without question the Mosaic law, including the law that forbade work on the Sabbath. By failing to observe these laws, Jesus could not have been the quintessential Jew.

How did Jesus break the Sabbath?

By healing the sick during Shabbat.Another Answer:Having died for all our sins as a perfect man, never sinning, He could not have broken the Law of God. Jesus explained the spirit of the Law in addition to the strict letter of it the Jews were exacerbating. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath as He gave it to man as a reminder of the future rest promised and to recall all that He did in the Creation. He explained that the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. If an emergency or truly pressing need arose (not something ordinary that could wait), it was proper to address it rather than allow unnecessary suffering or worse. Yet, they judged Him:John 7:22-24New King James Version (NKJV) 22 Moses therefore gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath. 23 If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the law of Moses should not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made a man completely well on the Sabbath? 24Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."Matthew 12:10-12New King James Version (NKJV) 10 And behold, there was a man who had a withered hand. And they asked Him, saying, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?"-that they might accuse Him.11 Then He said to them, "What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out? 12 Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath."
