Classic sign of low steering fluid.
low fuel presure. try priming it by turning ignition on and off several times.
One is under the dash, to the left of the steering column. More fuses are on the firewall, just under the hood, behind a cover that goes part-way across. You can remove that cover by turning the plastic nuts holding it in place.
Make sure the steering wheel lock is not holding it in the off position. Try turning the steering wheel while turning the key. Not it - but thank you for responding. Cheers
To replace the power steering seals in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, first, safely lift the vehicle and remove the power steering pump from the engine. Drain the power steering fluid, then disassemble the pump to access the seals. Replace the old seals with new ones, ensuring they are properly seated, and reassemble the pump before reinstalling it. Finally, refill the power steering fluid and check for leaks while turning the steering wheel to circulate the fluid.
the gear box may be going out or its metal on metal rubing somewhere
It's the power steering pump. If it only happens when it's cold it's just a condition related to the oil thickening up. Often a very small bubble of air can get caught inside a power steering pump and it will expand and contract as the pump turns. The condition is quite common and causes no damage other than the annoying sound. If it doesn't bother you, ignore it.
power steering fluid not filled?
Notchy feel when turning the steering wheel Noise from the pump area when wheels are turned Possible stiffness when turning steering wheel.
Try turning the steering wheel whilst turning the key, most peugeots have a built in steering lock.
check power steering fluid level
its must be a normal sound because mine does that as well...it could also be that your powersteering fluid is low or going out if it does while turning corners
