Bartholomew and Barnabas are two of several apostles documented in the scriptures.

The Book of Luke lists the names of the twelve apostles Jesus chose. Bartholomew, also known as Nathaniel, is listed among them.

Luke 6:13,14 "And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles; Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James, and John, Philip, and Bartholomew..."

The Book of Acts records the ordination of two men by revelation and signified by the laying on of hands. Barnabas and Paul were ordained apostles.

Acts 13:2,3 "As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away."

Acts 14:14 "Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they..."
