Jesus Called his disciples friends he wasn't only referring to the twelve disciples to those that hear and do the word of God as he said in Luke 8:21 "my mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it" a brother is more than a friend. A brother knows more of his other brother than a friend and have the same father as the other.
