If I understand the question, you are asking who sided with the British at the time of the Declaration of Independence. These Americans were called Loyalists or Tories. Early in the revolution, thousands of Americans signed oaths of loyalty to the king, in return for a promise that their homes, families, wealth and business would not be interrupted.
