The book of Chronicles should not be thought of as being about two key people. Chronicles covers the identical time frame as the books of Kings. The difference is the books of the Kings are written from the perspective of the kings and the books of the chronicles are written from the perspective of the Priests, of the house of Aaron of the tribe of Levi.
Both are given so the reader can reach a good understanding of the factual given both perspectives.
