The paparazzi are people who are liked by some and disliked by most. They are photographers who are known to take pictures of celebrities, movie stars, politicians or others who are in the public eye. Unlike the pictures that are taken when the people are at events where they expected to be photographed, the paparazzi will take photographs when they are least expected. Some of the paparazzi will go to just about any length in order to get pictures. They have been known to hide in bushes or take photos from low flying planes. They have even been said to have stalked celebrities in order to get the pictures that they feel they can sell.

The paparazzi are usually people who are independent photographers. If they get these pictures, they can sell them to a number of different magazines and papers. Quite a few of them will use an agency which, in turn, will sell their photos. The photographer will receive the larger share of the price of the photo, with the agency taking the rest of the money. When a picture is taken of a celebrity who is in demand, the photographer or agency will try to sell the photo a quickly as possible. The price of the photograph will depend on things such as who is in the photo, where it was taken, and if it puts the person in the photo in a compromising position. At times when more than one publication wants the photo, they will bid against each other, thus driving the cost of the photo up.
