At the 82nd Academy Awards, held on March 7, 2010, several presenters, including Tom Hanks, Sean Penn, Penelope Cruz, Robin Williams and Barbra Streisand, reverted to the old phrase, "And the winner is..." The Academy did not explain the change back to the old custom.
The 87th Academy Awards ceremony -- held to celebrate the best pictures of the 2014 film year -- will begin at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday, February 22, 2015. The event will be telecast by ABC.
