As a lizard the Komodo dragon is not particularly closely related to dinosaurs. Alligators and birds are more closely related to alligators. Because lizards (including komodo dragons) exist on a separate branch from the dinosaurs they are no more closely related to one dinosaur than they are to another.

Research suggests that the ancestor of the komodo dragon was the now-extinct Australian dragon Megalania, which averaged 7 metres in length. Like the Komodo dragon, the Megalania, which was the largest venomous lizard of its time, had skull and tooth adaptations which allowed them to kill large animals through rapid blood loss.

No. Komodo dragons are simply large lizards. The ancestors of lizards and dinosaurs split apart long before the first dinosaurs appeared. The only animals around today that are descended from dinosaurs are birds.
