It depends on the organisation of the school system. Most private schools have a full time nurse or first aid person hired on site, as seen from experience. Many public school districts have such a nurse at each school, or several that rotate between neighbourhood schools, such as an elementary/middle school near each other. Still others, again from experience, have only one full time hired nurse for the entire district that reports to the school needed in the event of a serious injury or illness. All teachers must be trained in basic first aid and how to handle typical emergency situations, such as playground incidents or classroom accidents, such as in a laboratory. If in doubt, call the main administrative offices for your particular school or district to find out what types of health personnel settings they manage.
