Democrates first thought of atoms, but Aristotle disapproved his hypothesis. This idea was discarded. John Dalton, an English teacher, looked back on Democrates's hypothesis and created the Atomic theory. JJ Thomson corrected the atomic theory because it stated that atoms were indivisible and this, of course, is not true (protons, neutrons, and electrons).
