Cyclops were one-eyed beings.
They were some of the off-spring of the god Posidon that liked to eat humans. The the most famous is polyphemus who captures Odysseus and his men in a cave eating them one by one. They manage to ecapse clinging onto the underside of the sheep that Polyphemus herds. They also helped the god of craftsmenship Hephaistos in his volcanic forge crasfting things like Zeus' thunderbolt.

Athens, Sparta and Corinth were the big city-states.
Zeus, the Lord of the sky, controlled the weather and the sky and ruled over the other gods. Posiedon controlled the sea, and was one of the Big 3, the three gods that were brothers and were the strongest out of the gods. Hades, ruler of the Underworld, the place where all deceased souls went to rest, was another of the Big 3. There were 12 main gods, but these 3 were the most powerful.
