In Dante's Inferno, the three worst sinners in Hell are Judas Iscariot, Brutus, and Cassius. They reside in the deepest circle, within the mouth of Satan, being chewed for all eternity. Judas, for betraying Jesus, and Brutus and Cassius, for betraying Julius Caesar, suffer the ultimate punishment for their treachery.

The Wicked, on earth - at this very moment - suffer the torments of Hell. The Wicked must not think, simply because they are not physically in Hell, God (in whose Hand the Wicked now reside) is - at this very moment - as angry with them as He is with those miserable creatures He is now tormenting in hell, and who - at this very moment - do feel and bear the fierceness of His wrath.
The place supposedly underneaths the earth is hell or the underworld. Souls of sinners etc. are often banished to such a place when they die so that they can pay and suffer for their crimes.
