Yes, definitely.....
quit rent
If you mean, "how far behind on the rent does the person have to be", you can give a notice to quit when the rent is a day late.
This might depend on what state you are in, but, in every state I know of, you can get a Notice to Quit if the rent is a day late.
Pretty straight forward. Either pay the rent, or move out.
Any time rent is unpaid, a notice to quit should be served. The duration depends on state law.
Yes! If its for back rent maybe not if you pay it. Other wise YES!
It means you have 10 days to pay your rent or to move out, or eviction proceedings will begin against you.
If they pay the rent, maybe you don't care. If they don't, serve a "notice to quit for non-payment of rent." The duration of the notice depends on your state laws.
The three day notice is also called "Fix or Quit". Which means in 72 hours you need to fix the breach, or quit the lease. If you pay the rent and the landlord accepts it, your leasehold continues. If you attempt to pay the rent and the landlord refuses it, keep a record of the date, time, and place (you may even wish to bring a witness with you). Refusing the rent, shows the landlord did not follow through properly on the 3 day notice to fix or quit. You chose the option to fix the breach but the landlord rejected it. While this may not fix the eviction, it will look better for you in housing court.
Depending on your state's rules about non-payment, you might need to serve a Notice-to-Quit for Non-Payment of Rent.
In every state that I know of, a notice to quit (for non-payment of rent) can be served the day after the rent is due. Late fees depend on the state. In Massachusetts, the rent must be 30 days late for a late fee to be imposed, and it has to be noted in the current rental agreement. However, there is no statutory limit on how much the fee can be.
