Jean Baptiste Point du Sable.
It was a fur trading post. But first it was a timbre town.
Jean Baptiste Pointe du Sable first arrived on the western shores of Lake Michigan in about 1779 and built a trading post near what is now the Michigan Avenue bridge in downtown Chicago.
Natchitoches was the name of the trading post built by St. Denis.
it was built 150 years ago, 1843 and was built by pioneers. the reason was to build a trading post so fort Victoria is a trading post for the Hudson bay.
Jean Baptiste Point du Sable established his trading post at the confluence of the Chicago River and Lake Michigan, in what is now Chicago, Illinois. This strategic location allowed him to engage in trade with Native American tribes and later European settlers. DuSable's trading post is often regarded as the first permanent non-Indigenous settlement in the area, marking the beginnings of Chicago's development.
