Well, the minotaur was housed in Crete...
Theseus was famous for killing the vicious, fierce and colossal minotaur. He went into the labyrinth, and came out safely with the help of a princess.
In the myth, after Theseus killed the minotaur, came out of the maze, and sailed away with Ariadne back to Athens, he lands on the island of Naxos.
His home city is Troezen, but he came to rule the city of Athens.
The idea came from Daedalus, but it was Ariadne, one of the daughters of Minos, that gave the string to Theseus and instructed him on its use.
Ariadne gave Theseus a ball of thread to help him navigate the Labyrinth and find his way back after defeating the Minotaur. The thread allowed him to retrace his steps, ensuring he could escape the complex maze after completing his mission. She provided this crucial aid out of love and a desire to help him succeed, as she was captivated by Theseus.
Clue is a variant spelling of clew, a ball of thread. The definition of a hint or to help solve a problem came from Theseus in the Minotaur's labyrinth where Theseus uses string to find his way out.
Theseus took a ball of yarn/wool and tied it to a rock at the entrance of the Labyrinth. He then unravelled it behind him until he came to the Minotaur. He had a fight with the Minotaur, killed it then followed the yarn/wool back to the entrance of the cave.
