His idea of making the USSR democratic, didn't help him with popularity but it did eventually lead to the unintentional fall of communism in Eastern Europe.
Answer this question… To limit the spread of communism by supporting any country fighting for independence
The demise of the Communist government in the former USSR was a deadly blow to communism. Even China has developed an economy that is part "capitalistic". Communism is viewed by most people as a political idea now relegated to the dustbin of history.
Communism didn't last in Russia because Stalin had a warped idea of communism. It failed because it never was true communism, but was always corrupted. I believe it was not communism in the USSR, but more of a deadly mix of Socialism and Totalitarianism.
It is an idea and an idea doesn't have a taste.

It came from the creators idea and perspective.
people didn't want czarist rule after the event called bloody Sunday and after the Russian people took the czar out of power the bolsheviks took power after the October revolution bringing the idea of solcalisim and then people like Stalin and them came to power bringing the idea of Stalinism aka communism and then after ww2 and the cold war and all that jazz the ussr went broke and couldn't support itself anymore so it collapsed and Boris Yeltsin became the first Russian president only to be replaced by Vladimir Putin after suffering many heart attacks and becoming unable to rule the country.
