The English pirate Edward Teach, commonly known as Blackbeard the Pirate, was the Captain of the pirate vessel Queen Anne's Revenge. The ship was originally a British frigate named the Concord, and ran as a slave ship. She was captured by pirate Captain Benjamin Hornigold, and given to Blackbeard, who at the time was one of his men.
Blackbeard ran the ship aground in Beaufort Inlet, Carteret County, North Carolina, in November 1996. The shipwreck's artifacts continue to be recovered to this day.

Originally it was named "Concord", built in 1710 in Britain and captured in 1711 by the French who renamed it "Le Concorde de Nantes". It was then captured again by Cpt. Benjamin Hornigold in 1717. Hornigold turned the ship over to one of his pirates, Edward Teach (Blackbeard). Blackbeard renamed Le Concorde "Queen Anne's Revenge" and used it as his flagship.

Blackbeard's ship was called the Queen Anne's Revenge as a nod to Queen Anne, who was the reigning monarch of Great Britain during the early 18th century, a time when piracy was rampant in the Caribbean. The name likely reflected both a sense of pride and a desire to invoke the image of a powerful ship associated with the crown. Originally a French slave ship named La Concorde, it was captured by Blackbeard in 1716 and rebranded to reflect his notorious reputation and ambitions as a pirate. The ship became infamous for its role in Blackbeard's exploits, symbolizing the golden age of piracy.
