some people say a general changed it during the civil war but i think name was changed prior to that period but still researching it. everyone i have talked to does not know the answer but one of the Blincoe descendants thinks that the above answer is correct. Joe Masterson jem@bardstowncable.net
We believe that the original name was manton then changed to blincoe and then back to manton. This is only a theory but we believe the name was changed for a prominent doctor in Manton at the time. He was instrumental in trying to attract the train company to bring the line through manton. He built a Hotel and other ammenities to make his point. I don't believe that it was renamed for very long. The only map I have seen with Blincoe named was a Railroad map at the History center in Frankfort. W
