Five countries that once had colonies in the northern region of South America are Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, France, and England. Spain established vast territories, including present-day Colombia and Venezuela, while Portugal claimed parts of northern Brazil. The Netherlands controlled areas such as parts of modern-day Guyana, and France had territories in French Guiana. England also had colonial interests in the region, primarily in what is now Guyana.
America, North America. The 13 colonies were mostly on the East Coast of the US. All of the states in New England were part of the original 13 colonies, but not all 13 are in New England.
