Can affect any farmer who works with wet hay or other moldy dust. Small farmers who have to directly thresh and handle their hay are most at risk, as are those living in cold and humid areas where damp weather is common.

When you inhale, your diaphragm contracts dropping down causing negative pressure in your thoracic cavity(lung area) so that air can circulate through the lungs.

What happens when you hiccup?

Your diaphragm contracts, which forces your lung to draw in air. Hiccups are caused when your body is trying too hard to regulate your breathing, so it accidentally messes itself up. The actual hiccup is your body trying to get back on track.

What happens to the intraalveolar pressure when the diaphragm contracts?

When the diaphragm contracts, it moves downward, increasing the volume of the thoracic cavity. This leads to a decrease in intraalveolar pressure, causing air to flow in from the atmosphere to equalize the pressure, resulting in inhalation.

What does each part of the contructed lung model present?

In a constructed lung model, the diaphragm typically represents the muscle that facilitates breathing, while the balloon or elastic bag simulates the lung tissue that expands and contracts with airflow. The tube or straw represents the trachea and bronchi, allowing air to flow in and out of the model. Lastly, any additional components, such as a container for water, may illustrate the pleural cavity and the effects of pressure changes during respiration.
