While the question is worded oddly, I suspect you are looking for Pontius Pilat, the fifth Roman Prefect of Judea, and who claimed that he found no fault when Christ was brought before him for judgment. He "washed his hand" of the matter and let the people of Jerusalem decide Christ's fate.
No death could not hold him, This is the beauty of the resurrection.
Jesus died for our sins so we could be forgiven
Jesus was put to death to die for our sins. If Jesus didn't go to the cross we as human beings would not be able to ask God for forgiveness for all our sins. But Jesus rose again. Hallaelujah Brother!

Jesus would not have been put to death except there were a death warrant issued by the Roman Governor, Pontius Pilate. There was. He was. And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required. (Luke 23:24)
Our Blessed Lord was put to death and died on Calvary outside Jerusalem.
to wait
Two criminals were crucified with Jesus, one on his left and one on his right.
Christianity is based on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus was put to death on a cross so Christian churches use a cross as their symbol.
