There was a standardized system that was approved, by the International Statistical Institute, in 1893 and prepared by Jacque Bertillon. The ( AMA ) American Medical Association in 1966 invented the medical coding known a CPT codes. It was developed as a standard for Medical providers, Hospitals, and Insurance companies so they can identify what services have been provided.
