Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet & Laurent Clerc
The C.G.S. (Cairo American College) school first opened in 1945. It was established to provide an American-style education to expatriate children in Egypt. Over the years, the school has grown and evolved, becoming a prominent educational institution in the region.
Children First Now was created in 1999.
John Braidwood opened the first American school for deaf children in 1815. The Braidwood school in Cobb, Virginia would be shut down by 1817. Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet and Laurent Clerc founded the American School for the Deaf in April, 1817.

New England Hospital for Women and Children, established in 1862, was the first American Nursing School that opened in 1872. Linda Richards was it's first graduate. The hospital closed it's doors in 1969 but reopened it's door as the Dimock Community Health Center.
Bessie Coleman was the 12th of 13 children. She attended aviation school and became the first African American in the world to become a licensed pilot.
