Bartolomeo Cristofori created the original hammer action in a piano (he also invented the piano itself).
Digital pianos and electronic keyboards may have hammer action that simulates the weight and feel of an acoustic piano. "Scaled" or "graded" hammer action means that the lower keys have a heavier feel and the higher keys have a lighter feel, just like on a real piano. Higher quality digital pianos usually have scaled hammer action.

Using a digital piano with scaled hammer action keys provides a more realistic and responsive playing experience, similar to that of an acoustic piano. This can help improve technique, dynamics, and overall performance quality.
The una corde creates a softer sound on the piano by changing the hammer action.
Hi, Here is something i found over net. In a weighted hammer action, all keys are equally weighted. In a graded hammer action, the keys become lighter as you move towards the treble region. -shan
When you press a key on the piano, it causes the hammer-action to strike the corresponding string in the piano. This string vibrates and disrupts the air around it, creating sound.
When you press down on the key of a piano, it causes a lever to move a hammer. The hammer then strikes a string that produces the sound.
Piano belongs to a percussion instrument family. in order to produce a sound strings has to be struck by hammer. The striking action defines piano as a percussion instrument. Pianist is unable to produce the sound directly, like violinist or guitarist, for that reason piano can not be classified to string instrument family.
It was invented in Padua Italy, by a guy named Bartolomeo Cristofori. He did this in the very late 1600's; the exact date is not known. The distinctive feature of the piano is the "escapement action", that allows a hammer to strike a wire freely and then recoil back, ready to strike again with the key is played. It is believed that piano's were invented in the early-mid 1700's (Around the 1720's) by an Italian man named Bartolomeo Christifori. He was assigned to create new stringed instruments by Prince Ferdinando, heir to the title of The Grand Duke of Tuscany. The piano came after the harpsichord - the plucking action was replaced with a hammer action which creates the sound we know today as being the piano.
There are strings that vibrate when they are hit by a hammer.
