The Antarctic Convergence was first crossed by Anthony de la Roché in 1675.
Only Antarctica is crossed by the Antarctic Circle.
English explorer James Cook first crossed the Antarctic Circle in 1773 during his second voyage to the South Pacific. Cook's expedition marked the first documented crossing of the Antarctic Circle by a European explorer.
The continent of Antarctica is crossed by and surrounded by the Antarctic Circle.
James Cook went to Antarctica twice, although he did not reach the actual Antarctic continent. He first crossed the Antarctic Circle, on 17 January 1773, in latitude 67 degrees south. A year later, on 30 January 1774, he again crossed the Antarctic Circle as far as 71 degrees 10'S. In each case, he was stopped from going any further by pack ice.
Fabian Gottlieb Thaddeus von Bellingshausen led the First Russian Antarctic Expedition in 1819.From Wikipedia:"Leaving Portsmouth on 5 September 1819 the expedition crossed the Antarctic Circle (the first to do so since Cook) on 26 January 1820. "
Tom Crean participated in three Antarctic explorations with both Shackleton and Scott. Most of the participants survived, and none 'crossed Antarctica'.
Scott of the Antarctic's first name is Robert.
The Antarctic Circle circles the whole Earth roughly 1,620 miles from the south pole.It crosses parts of the Southern Ocean and the continent of Antarctica. There areno parts of any countries anywhere on the circle.
You may be thinking of the first, led by American Will Steger, the International Trans-Antarctic Expedition. From their Web site: "This was one of those really unique Antarctic ventures. Six men crossed Antarctica the long way...starting at the very tip of the Antarctic Peninsula on 27 July 1989...passing through the abandoned Siple Station, the ANI camp at Patriot Hills, South Pole, Vostok, and several other Russian (Soviet) stations ending at Mirnyy on 3 March 1990--220 days and over 3,700 miles."
No-one has ever crossed the Antarctic on skis. It would most likely be suicide, and you would have to have a sledge/vehicle to carry provisions with you, unless you want to carry everything on your back (not advised).
