The Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava (born in Valencia on 28 July 1951) designed the hanging bridge at the Western entrance of Jerusalem. The bridge has been temporarily named the Chords bridge - In Hebrew: Gesher Meitarim - גשר מיתרים The bridge consists of a 118-meter high pylon counterbalancing the 360 meter span with 66 cables. It weighs 370 tons and cost 220 Million NIS to build.
