In the 7th book, Amy and Dan find out that they are Madrigals, the Cahills' most secret elite branch. At first, they thought that this meant that they were the most evil part of the Cahill family, but eventually, in Book 9 (Storm Warning), they learn that Madrigals are actually something different- healers, protectors, the actual good guys.
