Why did Moses killed the Egyptian?

When Moses saw an Egyptian mistreating a Hebrew, he became upset with the Egyptian and killed him. The account can be found in the Old Testament in the 2nd chapter of the Book of Exodus. You can also check out Numbers 31 to find an account where Moses orders a military to kill.

The scriptures in Exodus doesn't make known who exactly saw Moses kill the Egyptian, but an Israelite makes known to Moses that he was seen killing the Eygptian: "When Moses had grown up, he went out to visit his people, the Israelites and he saw how they were forced to do hard labour. He even saw an Egyptian kill an Israelite, one of Moses' own people. Moses looked all around and when he saw that no one was watching, he killed the Egyptian and hid his body in the sand. The next day Moses went back and saw two Israelite men fighting. He said to the one who was in the wrong, 'Why are you beating up a fellow-Israelite?' The man answered, 'Who made you our ruler and judge? ARE YOU GOING TO KILL ME JUST AS YOU KILLED THAT EGYPTIAN?' Then Moses was afraid and said to himself, 'People have found out what I have done." (Exodus 2:11-14).
