he gave the fire to mortals meaning common people
No. "Prometheus" is the subject, "stole" is the transitive verb, "fire" is the direct object, and "from the Olympians" is a prepositional phrase with "from" as the preposition and "Olympians" as the object of the preposition.
Fire -- He only gave them fire :)
Fire, so they could stay warm and cook food.
From what little I know of the Rockafellers and the large amount I know of Prometheus, I'm sure an answer can be gleaned from this: Prometheus brought fire to uncivilized man, making them civilized. In one myth tradition, man was actually created by Prometheus. In another, man was made in the image of Prometheus. It can be said that although Prometheus was a Titan, the gods above the Olympians, he was the closest link between gods and men. That's full of symbolism right there.
Since Prometheus sided with Zeus in the war between the Titans and the Olympians, he had to fight against Cronus. That is what made them enemies.

In Greek mythology Prometheus was a Titan. The Titans were the Gods that were in charge before the Olympians took over. Prometheus sided with the Olympians in the war of succession but after wards was considered to be something of a poor cousin. He is the one credited with the creation of man from earth -- hence the equating with Dr. Frankenstein. Also Prometheus came to a bad end (he stole fire from the Gods to give to men which offended Zeus. So he got chained to a rock with an eagle visiting him every day and eating out his liver.) So the association is also an ominous one.

No , only the gods had fire, but Prometheus stole it and gave to the humans.

Prometheus felt sympathy for the humans and wanted to help them. He sacrificed himself to give them fire in order to help them.

Prometheus, a Titan.
Prometheus felt bad for his creations of man of earth, and stole fire from the gods to give to them. He was punished by Zeus to have his liver torn out by an eagle everyday, until he was rescued by Hercules.
Prometheus. He is also known for stealing fire from the gods to give to humans.
